I will try to fix you

Everyone has that person in their lives that they want to fix. It could be your parent, a sibling, or maybe a friend. No matter what you do it seems that nothing is working, but you don’t stop trying because you love that person to much too quite. To me that’s what the song “Fix You” by Coldplay is about.

I think that a lot of people can relate to this song. My personal experience would be with my dad. Sometimes it’s hard “when you try your best but you don’t succeed”, but you can’t give up when the going gets rough. Sometimes you want to force them to stop the thing that is hurting them so badly, but like my mom always says, “You can’t make someone quite. They have to decide to quite for themselves”.

When do you cross the line between helping and forcing? Many people blur this crucial line. They want to help so badly to that they accidentally start forcing this person to do what they think is best. Even though their intentions were in the right spot, forcing someone to do something is not going to help them change at all. The best way to help them is encourage them and let them know that you will be there for them no matter what.

In the song the singer says, “Lights will guide you home”. Well you can be that light for the person you love. No matter what happens you can never give up. You can always hope that they will one day finally realize that they need to stop whatever is hurting them."And when the tears come streaming down your face" remember that there is always hope.
